Before you go shopping, spend a few minutes thinking about the safety and well being of your dog.

- Always keep your dog on a leash when they are outside. Your dog may be confused by all the costumes and decorations. A normally well behaved dog may try to run away or hide.
- Don’t leave your dog alone with a costume on. They may become entangled in it, or even try to eat parts of it.
- Keep an eye on those halloween candies. Never let your dog eat chocolate or other sweets.
- If it is a very cold night, consider an extra jacket or blanket for your dog. If the temperature is below freezing, it’s probably better to leave her indoors.
- Remember your dog has feeling, too. Try not to laugh or point at your dog. Instead, praise them for being such good dogs, and tell them how great they look in their new costume.
- If your dog becomes agitated or aggressive, it’s probably best to leave him home. If the party is at your house, make a comfortable, quiet place for him to escape the crowd and relax.
- With a little thought and preparation, you and your dog will both have a fabulous Halloween!
